Concerning the ending to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the original ending of the movie was altered.

The ending is like this: Joe and Clementine, on account of the clinic never being shut down, become trapped in the cycle of falling in love and erasing each other for the rest of their lives.

As opposed to falling in love with each other and breaking up like normal people.
